A SCAN form (Shipment Confirmation Acceptance Notice, USPS form PS 5630) is one sheet with one barcode that stands for every package you're handing to USPS that day. The carrier scans that single barcode instead of scanning each package.
Why it matters
- Tracking starts right away. Every package on the form gets an acceptance scan the moment the form is scanned. Without one, a package may show only "label created" until its first scan later in the USPS network.
- Faster pickups and drop-offs. One scan instead of twenty or two hundred.
- A record of handoff. The form lists the date, your name and address, and how many packages of each mail type you handed over.
When to make one
Make the form at the end of your shipping day, after the last label, and before the pickup or drop-off. Each form covers the labels from one ship-from address. Hand it to the carrier with the packages, or keep it with them for the pickup.
What it doesn't do
A SCAN form doesn't pay postage or replace labels. Every package still needs its own label. It also isn't a pickup request: book the pickup separately, or drop the packages off with the form.
How Muvo does it
Muvo makes the SCAN form for you when you close the day, either at your cutoff time or when you press Done for today. It includes every USPS label from that day, books the free USPS pickup, and keeps every form on the Pickups page so you can print it again.
